Salt

Salt is harvested from salt mines, mineral-rich spring water in shallow pools and by solar evaporation of seawater in large shallow basins. Edible salt is sold in the form of sea salt and table salt which usually contains an anti-caking agent and may be iodized to prevent iodine deficiency. Salt is one of the oldest and most ubiquitous food seasonings for ages, and salting is an important method of food preservation.
